So this week has been an interesting and important week. As you all know I usually take a Friday to open up my blog to introduce you to a new author. Last week, I introduced you to an important one, S.C.A.R. Today, I break a few rules to give you the second new author from the Kemet Books family and close friend, J.A. Davidson. Author of The Vindicator and Watchdog, Kemet Books is determined to bring heat this year.
T.P. Miller:Okay, before we start the interview tell us a little bit about yourself as an author, and what you like to do?
J.A. Davidson: As an author I like to write.
T.P.: Where are you from and what do you do for a living?
J.A.: I’m from Birmingham, Alabama and I do blue collar factory work full time.
T.P.: Do you have a specific writing style?
J.A.: I don’t have a specific style, but most of my writing is heavy action with a lot of detail connected by dialog that I try to keep sharp and witty.
T.P.: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
J.A.: I don’t consider any of them as a mentor but if I was forced to choose I’d say Mario Puzo. I like his vivid descriptions. He makes you feel like you’re in the book.
T.P.: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
J.A.: I have been writing short stories since I was seven. I used to draw a lot too. But I only began to consider myself a writer this year, 2013.
T.P.: How long have you been writing?
J.A.: I’ve only been writing seriously for about a year.
T.P.: How did you decide on what genre you wanted to write in?
J.A.: I write in different genres. Mostly Sci Fi and paranormal involving superheroes that are rough around the edges. I often include an urban edge to my books because I come from the violent inner city, and its second nature to incorporate the life I know about. I’m also working on a western series because I can relate to old school loners with hard punches and big guns.
T.P.: What inspired you to write?
J.A.: Hah! I don’t know really. I can’t sleep because I see these stories taking place like movies in my head.
T.P.: What book are you reading now?
J.A.: The Bible, and As A Man Thinketh.
T.P.: Who are your favorite authors?
J.A.: Mario Puzo, Raymond Chandler, Bill Bonnano.
T.P.: How did you feel when you completed your first book?
J.A.: Even as we speak I’m on the last chapter of my first one. I can’t wait. I anticipate a sigh of relief, and a nervous wait for reader reviews.
T.P.: Where is your favorite place to write?
J.A.: Sitting in a big bed on a rainy day.
T.P.: Is your book self published?
J.A.: Yes.

…”I presume you were on your way to wage war with Cutlass and his gang?” Bayne nodded. “So you know where this terrorist is hiding?”
“Yep. His soldiers told me.”
“I’m surprised,” admitted Chief Larkin. “Loyalty developed from good pay and fear is not broken so easily.” The vindicator smiled, then said,
“Well I start with noses, jaws, and ribs. Loyalty follows suit.”…….
T.P.: What do you want to say to your readers?
J.A.: If you’re a fan of superheroes, werewolves, hand to hand combat, intelligently funny dialogue and a few romance scenes, give any one of my books a try, you won’t be disappointed.
T.P.: Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
J.A.: Read a lot, do research. Write a lot, but don’t force yourself. God is real weather you like it or not.
